WORKSHOPS
BELSAY HALL QUARRY GARDENS -
1 day watercolour workshop led by David Holliday
Friday the 16th of October 2026

I’m excited to share this month’s painting with you. A beautiful scene inspired by the Quarry Gardens at Belsay Hall.
In this class, we’ll bring this atmospheric landscape to life, exploring how to build depth, light and texture with watercolour paint.
You’ll learn how to:
Layer paint from light to dark to create rich, realistic foliage and beautiful depth.
Capture rock textures and bring the dramatic quarry walls to life.
Create dramatic shafts of light as they stream down into the quarry, illuminating the foliage and transforming the whole scene.
We’ll take our time exploring colour, light and texture, with lots of guidance along the way, perfect whether you’re developing your painting skills or simply looking for a relaxing and creative few hours.
I can’t wait to see everyone’s interpretations of this stunning place!
